Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre invites artists to apply for the IV International Textile and Fiber Art Symposium organized within the frame of Rothko Centre’s residence program. The Symposium will take place in Daugavpils fortress, which is the monument of cultural heritage. It is characterized not only by significant historical facts, but also by interesting streets, courtyards and people. The interior of the fortress is planned by the traditional samples of military cities – there is a main square in the center, surrounded with administrative buildings and residential quarters. GEORGIAN WINE VESSEL Mastercourse by Georgi Pachkoria July 24-30, 2016, Daugavpils, Latvia Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre in cooperation with Daugavpils Clay Art Centre invite ceramic artists and students to apply for Georgian Wine Vessel Mastercourse by Georgian artist Georgi Pachkoria which will take place in Ceramic Laboratory at Daugavpils fortress from July 24 till July 30, 2016, within frames of Latvia International Ceramics Biennale. During the Mastercourse ceramic artists and students will be offered to learn traditional and non-traditional methods of modeling Georgian wine vessels, to get acquainted with Georgian winery and cultural traditions and history, as well as to create and to fire their own artworks under the guidance of Georgi Pachkoria, the Georgian ceramic artist. Within the framework of the "CERAMIC LABORATORY", inspired by Latvian nature, cultural space and personal experiences, participants are invited to create unique works of ceramic art using their selected material and equipment, at the same time adhering to a unifying theme, which is associated with experimenting. Symposium implies a joint development of a kind of laboratory where artists can experiment and share their experiences.
