Press conference at Rothko centre
This Friday, 15th of July at. 14:30 Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre organize press conference in the library. The focus of press conference will be the new exhibition season opening and I Latvian international ceramic biennale.
Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre’s new exhibition season of July, August and September will open six new exhibitions with internationally recognized artists: Marc Chagall DEAD SOULS (from M.Chagall Museum in Vitebsk, Belarus), Paul Huxley (United Kingdom) SIX DECADES, Evrim Özeskici (Turkey) CONFINED DIALOGUE, Laura Guoke (Lithuania) IN LITHUANIAN VILLAGE, Aleksandrs Dembo DARING, I Latvia International Ceramics Biennale MARTINSONS AWARD showing the ceramic achievements of 33 countries.
The „MARTINSONS AWARD” contest exhibition will be one of the Biennale’s main events, but within will be open more than 10 contemporary ceramics exhibitions, as well as master-classes and performances by National and International artists will be organized during the event. I Latvian international ceramics biennale is unique event in Latvian as well as in the Baltics.

- Valentins Petjko (Valentīns Petjko) (I Latvian international ceramics biennale curator);
- Roy Maayan un Erez Maayan (artists from Israel);
- Evrim Özeskici (artist from Turkey);
- Jury of the Martinsons Award:
- ELAINE O. HENRY/USA – artist, editor of magazines “Ceramics: Art and Perception” and “Ceramics TECHNICAL”
- BERND PFANNKUCHE/Germany – artist, editor of the magazine “Neue Keramik/New Ceramics”
- SIMCHA EVEN-CHEN/Israel – artist, PhD, member of the International Academy of Ceramics
- JANE JERMYN/Ireland – artist
- ŞIRIN KOÇAK ÖZESKICI/Turkey – artist, PhD, academician
The press conference will be moderate by Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre deputy head, curator and organizer of the biennale Maris Cacka (Māris Čačka).
During the press conference the journalists will be able to ask the questions to artists, curators, event organizers and the jury members. After the official part of press conference journalists will be able to individually interview the involved in the project, take pictures and film expositions.
After the press conference at. 16:00 will be opening of the new exhibition season.
